On Tuesday we had a chicken caesar salad for dinner, a really huge one. It was very refreshing, and I want to talk about the croutons.
We made our own croutons. I had never done this before and didn’t really know how to go about it, but they turned out great. We even used the bread I made the other day, which gave us even more flavourful croutons in our caesar salad. Unfortunately I’ve been a bit slow writing this post so I don’t have a photo of the croutons, (they’re all gone), but fear not, we’ll be doing this every time we need croutons, so I’ll post photos next time.
So, how did I do it? I cut the bread into crouton-sized chunks, sprinkled them with powdered garlic, chili powder, pepper, and a bit of salt, then poured on some olive oil. I mixed all of that up to evenly spread the flavours and oil around, then put it all on a cookie sheet in the oven t 400 degrees fahrenheit and kept checking on them and mixing them around. When they were crispy they were done.
