Week Three Roundup

Here we are at the third weekly roundup. My measurements with the official string & measuring tape this morning tell me that my waist is down to 41 inches. That’s a 1 1/3 inch loss since we started eating like food matters!

As usual I also took stock of the grocery bill for the week, and this week we spent $97.20. No Costco run makes quite a difference! Some of that is still sort of convenience food, for example, we bought some pre-seasoned meat to put on a salad last night, so we’ll see if some pre-planning can bring down the bill even more.

The goal for this week: Don’t get disorganized and eat nuts all week like last week. I’m eating a bowl of oatmeal right now, so I have a good breakfast. I made a pot of stock, chopped some carrots and celery, and roasted a lot of garlic last night, so we’re partially prepared for the week. I’ll try to make some hummus today with our huge can of chick peas.

  • What is Choices That Matter?

I'm a guy named John, and I do most of the writing around here. I went from a really active lifestyle to a really inactive lifestyle very quickly and my body is noticing. On top of that I'm worried about what's happening to our planet, so, I'm trying to do something about it.

For Christmas I received the book Food Matters, which I found very interesting and inspired me to start changing. Check out my first post for the beginning of the story.
