Week Ten Roundup

Good Morning! It’s time for the weekly checkin, and I things are going well. The waist measurement is 41 1/2 inches this morning, down 1/2 inch from last week, and we spent $112.58 on food, also reasonable.

We’ve been working on varying our diet this week and have been pretty successful. We had a stir-fry with my peanut sauce, and variation on the shrimp ring pasta, and last night we had fajitas. Unfortunately the pasta wasn’t as amazing as the first time, and Joanie got really sick the day after eating the stir-fry, (they’re not related, but it’s the stir-fry flavour that’s stuck in her mind), and doesn’t really want to eat it for a while, however, nothing was terrible, and most things were pretty good.

Also this week we both finished reading Colin Beavan’s book No Impact Man, (I wrote my impressions on my more general blog), and are feeling inspired to keep eating healthily and reduce the harm we do to the earth. I’ll write about any changes we make here too.

Finally, the weather in Montréal is getting warmer, and I think that winter may be over. I say that with some fear that saying it will bring another storm, but the it’s been sunny out for most of the past week, and they’re saying that it’ll be sunny for another week. I may try starting some gardening super early if the snow all melts, and I’ve been thinking of trying to grow some food in the windows now that there’s starting to be some sunlight.

That’s the state of things this week. Ten weeks in things are looking good.

  • What is Choices That Matter?

I'm a guy named John, and I do most of the writing around here. I went from a really active lifestyle to a really inactive lifestyle very quickly and my body is noticing. On top of that I'm worried about what's happening to our planet, so, I'm trying to do something about it.

For Christmas I received the book Food Matters, which I found very interesting and inspired me to start changing. Check out my first post for the beginning of the story.
