I need to reboot my system

So, I’m sitting here eating my, (admittedly late), breakfast of French Toast. It’s made with store-bought whole-wheat bread, which means that it’s pretty much white bread in a different bag. Speaking fo bags, it comes in a bag within a bag, but that’s another whole post. Back to the breakfast, it’s definitely not a Food Matters style breakfast. It’s better than bacon & eggs, but it could be a lot better, and I’m thinking that I’m generally not thrilled with the variety of what I eat in the morning. Oatmeal is great, but I don’t want it every day, toast is, well, toast, (and I don’t have an amazing source of bread yet), and that’s pretty much all I eat for breakfast. Every once in a while we make an omelette, which is more like fried vegetables with some egg mixed in, but that takes a while and I’m usually in a hurry in the morning.

I’ve also come to notice that eating like food matters had become a bit more time-consuming in general, (or at least it seems that way). I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of days now and have come to a realization: I need to reboot my system. When we started out we had a system that always had vegetables chopped in the fridge, stock in the freezer, and more. We’ve let that lapse and as a result are struggling. We need to start pre-preparing vegetables in quantity, making stock, and planning and even pre-preparing some meals when possible. This won’t always be possible, but when it can be done it should.

Time for a reboot.

  • What is Choices That Matter?

I'm a guy named John, and I do most of the writing around here. I went from a really active lifestyle to a really inactive lifestyle very quickly and my body is noticing. On top of that I'm worried about what's happening to our planet, so, I'm trying to do something about it.

For Christmas I received the book Food Matters, which I found very interesting and inspired me to start changing. Check out my first post for the beginning of the story.
